Very Versatile Thank You + Free Digi Stamp

Last Wednesday, we went to see the circus in Coney Island. We were 6 rows from the front in the already small arena in Coney Island. It was a great show for the $10 that we paid. My parents loved it and we've never seen animals so obedient. People say that they mistreat their animals, but we didn't notice any signs of that. Though they used a whip on the floor, they never harmed the animals. Here is the only picture I took there when they allowed cameras.

The card that I want to talk about today is very versatile--it is mature, unisex, and can be used for a variety of occasions. The first 2 photos show how it changes under different light and the last photo is what I did to the interior.

For the front:
-Double-sided adhesive tape (heat safe)
-Stickopotamus vellum stickers of leaves
-1.25" square of white card stock
-1.50" square of designer card stock
-Green pigment ink to ink all the corners
-Designer card stock
-White card stock for the card base (will stand 6"x4")
-Tape runner adhesive

For the inside:
-"Thank you" stamp
-Perfect pearls in green
-brush
-Watermark ink
-Green and white colored paper
-Border punch of your choice

Broken Square Frame

I haven't made anything with the template that I've put together yet, but I'll post up pictures when I do. This was meant to be used to frame an image. Instead of the plain old white background, you can cut out pieces of patterned paper and align them against the frame. It should create an interesting look. It is a 2.5" x 2.5" square and you can post a comment with your e-mail for the template if you don't want to free-hand this one. In the second image, I quickly doodled something that might look like patterned paper to give you an idea of what it might look like once you have pieced everything together.

Free Digi Stamps

As the weekend nears, I want to leave you with 2 digi stamps that I created. They are 2 separate images and go together on your card--1 with the words "Happy Birthday!" displayed on a tv screen and another of a person holding the remote as if they just turned on the tv. It would work great with a masculine theme. If you don't like the font, you can always erase the font that I used and enter your preferred font. Both images are transparent, about 3" wide x 2.5", and are of course resizable with image programs.

Interior Design (In the Card Sense)

I was reading an article about using credit cards overseas. You might want to read it if you're planning to travel internationally any time in the near future. I had no idea how far behind we are just because credit card companies want to save a couple of bucks. It'd be nice if they can start implementing more security features as other countries already have; the additional pin needed to charge a purchase sounds like a great idea. It reminds me of a debit card. It'd protect many more people from theft.

Today I wanted to talk about what can go inside your beautiful card. This is a neat way to spice up the inside of a blank card. Choose a paper that goes along with the color scheme of the card and cut out tiny rectangles to use as borders on opposing corners. These will be placed behind the sheet of paper in which you will write your text. Underneath this set up, use a rub-on sticker that is large enough to peek out from behind the other layers of paper. Use glitter glue to embellish select areas of the rub-on.

Sleek Birthday Card

Supplies (may not be linked to the exact supplies that I used):
-Blue cardstock
-Vellum
-Rhinestone
-Flower stamp
-Blue embossing powder
-Heat gun
-Watermark ink
-Patterned paper
-Happy Birthday rub-on sticker

For the flower, emboss a flower image onto vellum paper 2 times over. Stamp a smaller flower to be cut out as it. After heat setting the embossing powder, cut out the flowers and layer the 2 flowers on top of each other. Finish it off with the smaller flower and a rhinestone in the center.

Butterfly Thank You

I've been rushing through thank you cards like there's no tomorrow! I just found out 2 days ago that we'll be moving again. I'm worried that I won't get to them for another year if I wait until we are settled in!

-Felt butterfly
-Rhinestones of various sizes
-Patterned paper
-Adhesive
-Ribbon
-Butterfly stamp
-Pigment ink
-Border punch
-Perfect pearls
-Watermark ink
-Glitter glue

The first picture shows how the glitter from the embossing powder glimmers in the background. Important: Make sure you do the embossing on the white cardstock backing BEFORE you add any of the other pieces. Sometimes it may smear onto other pieces that you really didn't intend to emboss it on or the heat gun may ruin other accents on the card from overexposure to heat and we really wouldn't want that to happen! Either way, the idea is to prevent as many "do overs" as possible! The sides of the smaller squares of paper have been inked in blue, so that it softens the edges and sort of gives it an additional tiny frame.

A Card for All Occasions

The weather has been nasty for the last couple of days here in Brooklyn. It makes you want to stay inside all day. There's no better time for crafting than on these days. =)

Here I have for you a card that I made a long time ago. Please disregard the flower. It was beaten up from the poor packaging even before I opened it.
