Baby Blocks Card For Boy + Free Address Labels

This week I was working on getting out birth announcements for Chelsea, my cousin's newborn. They're ready to ship out! Yay! 

Design Finch has some free labels for you to use and download as I have used for these 50 birth announcements for my cousin! They're gorgeous and easy to use. Just type into them the info that you need and print it out! The only issue I had was I couldn't save it with my version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. 

You may have noticed that these labels have a "from" area. I didn't use them because my cousin already had preprinted labels that she wanted me to use (I put those on the envelope flap in the back), so I just cut them off. They still look very fun though. :)

I also want to show you a card that I made using ribbon that I won from Laine's blog giveaway. :)

The pattern on the bottom is actually the envelope. I couldn't figure out how to photograph it properly. :D The baby blocks were cut out of blue textured cardstock. It's centers are little footsies (pattern paper). 

This weekend is gorgeous in NYC. We will be going to the World Maker Faire at the Hall of Science (which is a fabulous science museum in Queens, NY--so many fun opportunities to learn in a fun environment)!

Strawberry Shaped Card

It's apple picking season here in the Northeast, but I've got a strawberry for you! :D I found it more fun to create a strawberry shaped card than an apple this week for Tuesday Alchemy's new challenge week. Out of the 3 inspirational words (blackboard, gears, and tart), I chose tart. The first thing that came to mind was a Pop Tart, then...tart pie...finally, I went into more detail and selected an ingredient--STRAWBERRIES! 

 

I used nothing but paper for this card and some ink on the edges. It's embossing and quilling free unlike most of my other projects! Also, you will notice the fabric in the background. This silk cloth was dyed using natural ingredients (flowers, mulch, leaves, etc.) during an Etsy Hands-on event in Brooklyn a few months ago. I haven't gone in a while because my buddy had her baby in Aug and I'm suddenly discouraged to commute an hr and a half to get there (common NYC travel time to get places sadly).











Speaking of babies, my cousin gave birth to a beautiful girl on Wednesday! Welcome Chelsea! Now we have the whole Clinton family on my mother's side (Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea)! lol!!! For her baby shower, I created this baby stats chart to mount on a wall that I have yet to go through to see who made the closest guess. Here is what it looks like:

I was in such a rush to make this. I enlisted the help of a 3 year old, who did a phenomenal job as you can see! Surprisingly straight considering I was doing the top part on my tiptoes. :)

Wonderful weather here in NYC this week. Hope you all get out there to enjoy before the winter weather hits--which I am hearing predictions that it'll be a dreadful one this year. :T

Letterpress Happy Birthday Quilled Hearts Card

2nd week in Sept. and we're celebrating Peace, Love, & Happiness at Tuesday Alchemy. Want to know why? Have you ever heard of International Peace Day which is on Sept. 21st? Today is also the anniversary of 9/11 and so it's important to keep peace and love not too far from our minds. I live in NYC and was in high school at the time. Due to the massive panic we were sent home, but phones weren't working and no mass transportation was running. My bus ride was on average 40 minutes one way, so having to walk home was not on the top of my list of things I want to do when everything was crazy. It was already raining ash and pieces of debris, so air quality was terrible. The next day the city was closed down, so we got to stay home from school. It was scary walking down the streets for a very long time after that day. We had to be evacuated in school a few times after it as well while the SWAT team came in due to a few bomb scares. In my high school? Really? I do understand the precaution of better to be safe than sorry though, but that's an example of the high tension environment we experienced daily. I felt especially bad for those of my friends who covered their heads due to their religion (we're very diverse here) because they were continuously harassed on the streets and in school due to ignorance. Some either took off their hijab or persisted but had a miserable day to day life. Here's to hoping for a world without violence and peace, so people don't have to go through such ordeals in a civilized society.

Thank You Laine--Quilled Flowers Card

Now that Laine received the thank you card I sent to her for sending all of those awesome prizes over to me, I can post it! Though I've been able to do it for a few days now I just haven't had the time to sit down and get it out there! 

The larger petals were made by husking quilling paper. Centers are dabbed with Versamark ink. Sentiment looks a bit off because I wanted to create a shadow as well as use Perfect Pearls to make it shimmer, but it didn't turn out quite as clean as I wanted it to look. Circles in the background were die cut and spread out. The two on the right were dabbed in gray ink. 

Can you believe it is September already? Does time seriously fly faster and faster as you get older?

Wet Embossed Snowflake Chipboard Tags

It's already Sept. and all paper crafters who are serious about relying solely on their own creations for the upcoming holidays in Dec. need to start getting on it! ...really! I've been doing major procrastination...I think that's just how I am! :T Not. Good. 

This is a minor push toward starting--and thanks to Tuesday Alchemy's Anything Goes challenge this week for contributing to that effort--stamped wet embossed snowflakes on chipboard to create tags. Not only do gifts add up to a lot, all of the packaging do as well so it's a good idea to help alleviate that "pain" in your wallet any way possible. We all know us crafty chicks can do it! 

A silver eyelet was set on the middle top of the tag for extra support (yes, I know chipboard is sturdy, but I think it adds to an overall cleaner look as well). The centered tag is double the width of the smaller one off to the side. Some of the smaller gifts look overwhelming with a larger tag and you also may not care to do too much writing, so the extra space is not necessary.
