X-mas Tree '10 Card

Today seems like a good day to catch up on the blog for a bit.

This is a card that I designed myself on Illustrator. It isn't the prettiest card, but I tried...lol Also, the size wasn't ideal. As you can see in the picture, the envelope had to be custom-made to be humongous! I believe it is the largest card that I've made so far!

An eyelet is what keeps the top piece held together underneath the star. The card was printed on white cardstock before getting made up. Each metallic cardstock layer is propped up by foam pop-up adhesive. Again, this isn't the prettiest card, but I was sure proud of the sketching and planning that went into it after. Free Templates and Printable Paper Patterns

I went to Borders today and picked up two card making magazines from the UK. Why is it that the US doesn't offer all of the freebies that UK magazines offer to their readers?! Both magazines had free papers, die-cuts, stickers, and additional freebies of glitter gel pens and dry embossing templates! I realize that it costs a bit more, but at least I am building my collection as I am attempting to remake the examples in your magazine! While I do complain about this, I know that at these prices I am only able to purchase a few copies a year to work with my budget. Okay, I'll stop whining now. lol

The reason why I am bringing this up is because I am reading through the November issue of PaperCraft Inspirations and I see that their website: http://www.papercraftinspirationsmagazine.co.uk/, offers free templates (although some you may not understand how to use unless you match it up to the guide within the specific issue) and patterned paper that you may print out. I am directing this at the person who scraps or makes cards partially or fully digital. Just click on the links on the left and save whatever interests you and your collection of goodies. =)

Broken Square Frame

I haven't made anything with the template that I've put together yet, but I'll post up pictures when I do. This was meant to be used to frame an image. Instead of the plain old white background, you can cut out pieces of patterned paper and align them against the frame. It should create an interesting look. It is a 2.5" x 2.5" square and you can post a comment with your e-mail for the template if you don't want to free-hand this one. In the second image, I quickly doodled something that might look like patterned paper to give you an idea of what it might look like once you have pieced everything together.
