Best Friends Quilled Flowers and Roses Frame Card

So how about this NYC weather? 90s leading up to June. Unreal!

Anyway, this is a picture frame card that I made. It's a bit different than usual--it's super girly looking to me and playful. I'm usually more toned down with this stuff, but maybe it's the vibrant flowers outside that are inspiring to me.

This is a picture from about 4 years ago. I'm in the middle, Jen to the right, and Jenny to my left. Jenny already has an (almost) 1 yr old--boy does time fly!

Orange and Purple Quilled Flowers For Friend Framed

"Friends are flowers in the garden of life."

This framed piece was made as part of a birthday present. Unfortunately, the glass shattered in transit. :(

As with many others, I play around with the way it looks before. Sometimes what I originally had imagined turns out to be completely different. These things are normal. Just to give you an idea, here is the before:









I felt more comfortable with the arrangement that I settled on though, so I went with that:














Here is an up close shot. There are 5 flowers total. Quilled centers lay on top of Prima flowers. Wording is a rub-on sticker. Green leaves were also quilled.










This picture shows you how it shimmers. The inner border has some dry embossing (that I did not do) along with more shimmering frame lines.











Being creative is a process, so patience is key!!! Don't give up!

Vintage Key to My Heart Card

Hello everyone! It has been busy all around--summer days fly by especially quickly don't they? All of the heat is making my cats very inactive during the day, but it has been quite the opposite for me. :D 

Each week there are free live concerts at the park near my home. I would like to attend one, but my boyfriend is working in Pennsylvania during the weekdays now so I feel like all the mood is gone when I come home from work. Do you ever feel that way?--you want to do something, but going alone is just not as fun as with your partner so you end up not going altogether. 

Anyway, on to more exciting things...!!!

This week, we're all kicking it old school at Tuesday Alchemy--vintage! You can see how amateur I am in this area through my card! xD This is my interpretation of "key to my heart."

 I'm normally more of a modern girl, so it was quite a challenge for me. I do apologize if you feel offended that I interpreted vintage crafting as inking the corners in brown and using other muted colors. :X My knowledge of crafting vintage is very limited.

 The words are rub ons and the heart was colored in yellow acrylic paint with bits of white here and there. The surface dried a bit crackled, so I took that as a cue to dab on brown Perfect Pearls to attempt a distressed look.

Pink Happy Birthday Flower Metal Charm Card

I haven't played with pink for a while, so I was itching to take all of these pink papers out! 

The second picture shows how the Perfect Pearls shimmers at an angle. Sentiment is a rub-on.

Cute Orange Giraffe Baby Card Handmade

Feel Better Soon Quilled Yellow Flowers Handmade Card

I made an uplifting card that can be given to those who aren't feeling their best. A little love and care can go a long way in helping someone along a speedy recovery.

This card features 2 yellow quilled flowers. The centers were made with green and yellow quilling paper and dotted with metallic gold paint. Leaves are a turquoise-colored paper.

 "Feel better soon" sentiment was wet embossed on heavy card stock.

Flourishes are rub-on stickers and are dotted with glitter in select areas.

Quilled Pink Hearts Love Card

Okay, I lied...one more post today before the weekend starts! :D This is a card that I designed based on the sketch from clean&simple. I think it's always a good time to tell people you love them!

Flower, flourish, and 3 hearts are quilled in 4 different shades of pink! Scallop circle is made from pink pattern paper with a white cardstock circle on top. "LOVE" sentiment is a rub-on sticker. Cardstock base is Bazzill brand.

Smile! Quilled Sunflower Photo Frame Card

This card has a slit that acts as a picture frame! The card further crosses boundaries between the scrapbooking and card making world by sharing the most essential thing in most scrapbooks--photographs!

I think this is the ultimate in personalizing a card and that is sticking in your own picture! I really, really tried to make the sunflower look as realistic as possible with the petals being places in more 3D looking positions. It is quilled with 4 different colors of yellow and brown quilling paper and the flourishes feature 4 different colors of yellow and orange. The center of the flower is also a bit pearlescent from going over it with shimmery watermark ink. The word, "Smile," is a rub-on sticker and the strip of brown (it is more of a pinkish-brown) was made using double-sided glue tape and Martha Stewart glitter. The whole interior is blank, so there is a lot of space to write a lovely message! P.S. That picture is of me (left) and my best friend, Jen, since 1st grade (right) on Thanksgiving 2011. :)

Pink Vellum Flower Thanks Card

This is a simple "thanks" card. All of the pink makes it very playful and girly. The flower is cut from vellum and  then wet embossed with white embossing powder. There are 3 small beads to make the center of the flower.

"Together Forever" Wedding Card

A beautifully blue wedding cake card to give to the happy couple on their special day. 

There are a lot of fine details to this card. What I wrote on Etsy:

The base of this card is silver. Patterned paper sits on the right side with a strip of pearlescent baby blue paper serving as a divider. The center circle is cut from blue vellum and is adorned by 6 pearl-like embellishments. Cake is cut from Bazzill white cardstock, then dry embossed. It sits propped up on foam dots. White, fine glitter sits on the raised part of the design. On top of the cake is another layer with 3 various sized turquoise quilled flowers. Cake sits on hand-painted flower. "Together Forever" is a rub-on sticker on heavy white cardstock with 2 edges rounded.

Orange Double Heart Charm "Love" Card

I have a new card for you today! 

A "love" card for someone special to you. The double heart charm is dangled by twisted ribbon. Flourish, word, and banner are rub-ons. The edges of the card are rounded.
