Clear Pink Quilled Flowers Congrats Card

I can't believe the summer is over again. Many colleges began class today.

This pink congrats card is not made on your traditional card stock paper. It's created on acetate to make it a clear card! It was so difficult to keep it clean as the static really likes to attract anything and everything!!

I started gluing it with tape runner, but this was really unattractive due to the streaks that it created. Instead, I had to use a spray adhesive. I find it much harder to adhere same size sheets this way.

Quilling Purple and White Flowers Circle Window Card

Sometimes it's so hard to capture a handmade greeting--this card was one of them!

 I had to hold it closed for the picture, so that a deep shadow isn't cast on the center.

This window card was made for my brother's friend. I've known him for many years now, but one thing I didn't know until now was how much of a romantic he is! Hopefully this will mark a great start to a new relationship! Best of luck to them!

I printed the wording on vellum and attached it to the inside of the card, so that it'll peer through the hole.

Quilled Blossoms Thank You Card (CAS)

Happy Thursday all!

Thanks for stopping in today. We are all frozen over in NYC making it extremely depressing to go out. Makes me wonder how on earth I lived in Buffalo, NY for 2 years. :D I hope it's warmer wherever you are! :)

I have here a card that is currently circulating my office at work to be signed by everyone. Shanta's last day will be tomorrow and I will miss the energy she brings. Hope she'll feel the love in the card. :)

Card details: Layout was based on this sketch. 3 quilled blossoms were formed into bowls with white paper strips. Depth is created in this way. Chalk was faded into petals to bring out colors. Vellum was printed on for the words. Flourishes were wet embossed. The only regret I have is making the flowers so thick. I wanted to partially conceal some petals with the banner, but in order to do this I would need to put the banner on stilts of foam dots! You may not be able to tell from this photo except the way that it pops out, but I have to say it is pretty unflattering looking at it from the side. This also caused such a raised card that it far out-sized the A2 envelope I had prepared for it. It had to go into an envelope one size up. I'll have to work on that. ;)

2012 Graduation Cap Window Card With Pearls

This card is sort of a "flashback" design for me because I've made a very similar window/peep hole card in the past. It is for 365 Cards Day 97 That Looks Familiar. What this means is that you have to make a card that borrows many of the elements from a card that you've made in the past. The first picture is the recent card I made for a friend's friend.

I didn't do quilling for the new one, but the layout was the same otherwise. I used vellum in both for the inside as well.

Love of My Life Quilled Card

It was a beautiful 58 degrees on Saturday which is really rare in New York City. I took the opportunity to go for a long walk at the park. What did you do this weekend? I wish all winters were this warm--then we'd all be in lovely moods all the time! I even saw daffodils growing in yards already!

This week there is another Etsy workshop on drawing in Brooklyn. I am pretty excited! It was a lot of fun last time and this time I am looking forward to learning something new!

Today I want to introduce my window card. I have a lot of pictures for this card because I was getting really excited about the details of it!

The way this card is, you really need to be careful where you write the message on the inside otherwise it will show through (I have done that before, oops!). To help you make sure you don't do that, all you need to do is write your message on the space around the vellum paper (see last image for interior of card to see what I mean).

I added extra puffed ink to make the swirls pop at the tips. It is an extremely raised background!

Thanks For The Memories, A Goodbye/Farewell Card

I feel like I've been making a lot of blue cards lately. I think it might be because I left it out from last time! I have to make a note to put it away before I start on a new card! lol

This card was made for Day 365 at 365 Cards. The theme was a goodbye card. "Thanks for the memories" I thought was suitable for a farewell/goodbye card because I feel that even though the person is (people are) leaving, you should not forget what they have done for you during your time together. Therefore, this card can be given to anyone you may be saying goodbye to: teacher, coworker, friend, etc.

The flourishes were quilled with white paper and the white flower was painted with acrylic paint as I did before for one of my other cards. "Thanks for the memories" is on a white vellum sheet. I created a pattern on the base of the cardstock by using Versamark Ink.

This is the inside of the card. I wanted the pattern paper there, but I also wanted to leave space for people to write their farewell messages. The vellum overlay was perfect because you can see through it to the pattern, but also write on top as well. It was the perfect balance of elegance for me.

Pink Vellum Flower Thanks Card

This is a simple "thanks" card. All of the pink makes it very playful and girly. The flower is cut from vellum and  then wet embossed with white embossing powder. There are 3 small beads to make the center of the flower.

This card isn't a developed card, but merely a styling idea.

The papers are cardstock and vellum. Punch holes through only the top two layers of vellum and cardstock, leaving the back untouched. Through the punched holes, set eyelets and tie the bow to be exposed on the front of the card.

Wedding Invite Proposal # 3

This is something I borrowed from somewhere on the web. I can't remember...very sorry. If anyone knows, please let me know so I can give appropriate credit. Thanks!

All you need to do is find a picture of a flower to print out, then type the couple's names onto the vellum. The bow just ties the two separate pieces together without any other adhesive.

Wedding Invite Proposal # 1

 

In March, I was asked to help my friend, Jenny, create her wedding invitations for an October wedding. This proposal is 1 of a few that I came up with. Though we are moving in a different direction now, I wanted to upload some of my ideas.

I thought this design was very flexible for a bilingual wedding. The middle portion pulls out and you can use one side for English and in this case, the back was meant to be for the Chinese writing. 

I picked up a pack of these charms from Michaels. It didn't cost more than $2 from what I remember. All you do is string ribbon through the ring of the charm to attach. The ribbon is tied in the back.

Vellum is wrapped over the text portion and confetti (stars for this invite) were inserted. You can actually shake the stars around
