Quilled Purple Orchids Unique Stringed Mom Card

Well summer is in full swing and of course I caught one of those horrid summer colds...yay! Thank you mom! :D Yes, she passed it onto me when she was visiting from Maine a few WEEKS ago. I still can't shake this cough!

How has your summer been so far? It's hot, humid, and extremely wet over here. In fact, we have thunderstorms more often than not lately. It's really not so great for those of us who just want to get outside and enjoy the day!

In honor of an awesome mother who has left me this great gift of sickness before she left, I present to you this card:

:P It's a card that took a lot of time making, not only because of all of the quilled pieces but also because of what it took to spell the word "mom." I took a thicker thread and free handed the letters, so essentially, they are "stringed." Each piece had to be carefully glued down...then you wait for it to dry...glue some more...wait some more, etc., etc... Needless to say, a lot of love went into it.

As for the quilling part, I made orchids and a bunch of smaller leaves glued together to make larger leaves. All of the quilling together did not come close to equaling the time it took to glue down the string! My head was really spinning after all of the concentration it took to complete this card. I'll probably be needing a long, long break before tackling anything like this again when I have time.

All the best to you lovely readers this week!

Happy Mother's Day! Yellow Quilled Tulips Bouquet

Wishing you a Happy Mother's Day! That's what it says in Chinese! Thank you to my best friend, Jen, for translating it and to Alex for commissioning! I've never done anything with actual Chinese characters, so I'm pretty proud of it. :)

Well here's the mother's day card for Alex that I made. I borrowed the tulips from a previous card I made and put it on top of a simple layout.

I sprayed it with glitter too! It is stunning in person!
The yellow handmade envelope that goes with it.

This year my mom is in Maine taking care of my grandma, so we aren't doing anything for Mother's Day. Instead, we chatted over the phone. :)

This whole weekend has been super HOT, so my bf and I are going for a long walk to get frozen yogurt in a little bit--it's to make us work for the extra calories. :D Yesterday we had bagels in the park overlooking the East side Manhattan skyline which is 2 blocks from us. It has been a very enjoyable weekend (I'm a very simple girl to please). lol

Good day to all the mamas out there!

Hi everyone and good evening!

I am very happy to announce that I will be joining the Tuesday Alchemy design team! It is my first time doing anything like this, so I am excited to be a part of something that further shares my love for crafting! Tuesday Alchemy invites all types of crafters to join in on the fun! A new challenge is posted every Tuesday, hence, Tuesday Alchemy. This week's theme is "Spring Sweetness," so head on over and show everyone your beautiful creations in the spirit of spring! EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!!

So what I have created for challenge #10 is a quilled lattice card for mother's day.

This card might possibly integrate most of the things I have at home. lol You've got the quilling, embellishments, glitter, dry embossing, die cuts, stamping, foam dots...wow...I didn't realize how many things I had to do to this card until now. You just don't think about it when you're on a roll I guess. :D

Last but not least, a huge thanks goes out to the ladies of Tuesday Alchemy for the warm welcome! :)

Mother's Day Card--Blue Quilled Potted Flowers and Hearts

Mother's Day is a month away now! Here is another quilled mother's day card that I made today.
Most of the card is quilled--potted blue flowers and red hearts. The heads of the flowers are fringed and the center is embellished with a dot of metallic puffed paint. The sentiment was printed using my laser printer in black.
This is the interior and the card is unfolded to show the front and back, below.
Card fits in a handmade blue box envelope.

What do you usually do with your mother? If you're a mother, how do you like to celebrate? My mother isn't much for celebrating. My brother and I usually buy her a stack of scratch cards (lottery) because she likes to try her luck. I make sure I get the longer games like Cash Word, so they last a while. :D

Good night fellow bloggers!

Quilled Pink Tulips (Mother's Day Card)

Mother's Day is less than 2 months away! Time to start making Mother's Day cards!
Get ready for the national day when we all celebrate our lovely mothers! Why not give her double the amount of flowers this year? ;D

This lovely card has a chalked background, an inkjet printed "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment, and 3 quilled flowers in pink and outlined in white. Leaves are a turquoise blue. Glitter was dotted sparingly.

Have a lovely day! :)
