Mcdonald's 2011 Halloween Kids Meal Basket Makeover

This was a kids meal basket that McD's was giving along with the food instead of the usual red box or paper bag. It is made out of orange and black plastic and the handle is a cat's head (which I left as is). It was intended for trick or treating. Here is a picture I found of it in its original form:
I wanted it to look more like my own cat at home, so I took out black and off-white acrylic paint and painted over the body. It didn't come out too bad. I am now using it as an assorted office supplies container on my desk. Check it out:

This is a picture of my sleepy cats: Cookie in the back and Butters on the front.

Picture taken from my camera phone of Butters exploring himself.

It has been terrible here from Hurricane Sandy. To give you an idea of what it looks like if you aren't familiar:
Compares last year's Hurricane Irene with currently Hurricane Sandy. Spans 900 miles from Florida to New England.
Even though the east coast of the US is experiencing the lashing of Hurricane Sandy and most of us will not be able to enjoy Halloween to it's fullest, have a happy and safe Halloween to those of you who can!

Teal and Brown Quilled Flowers Birthday Card

Oct 15th was one of my co-worker's birthday and I decided to make a card for her. Our group also chipped in for Edible Arrangements. If you have never had it, it is a bouquet of fruits shaped into flowers. They're usually what I give to new moms when I visit them at the hospital because it's a sweet and healthy treat. I just decided to look it up and it turns out you can buy your own fruit cutter and put together your own! It would save a lot of money versus the $50+ baskets we have to pay for if you have the time.
This card with stamped with individual letter stamps to create this embossed name.

Double quilled flowers set on top of Prima flowers.

Interior: Stamped and handwritten name.

I was inspired by this wonderful card from Savory Stamping:
Here on the east coast, we're all preparing for the devastation that Hurricane Sandy is suppose to bring to the area starting tomorrow. It's looking pretty bad because it covers a lot of area and is slow moving, so it will be a long lasting storm. On top of that, it is expected to cross paths with a cold front and during high tide too. Snow, rain, wind may cause a lot of damages including flooding and loss of electricity. Overall, a very dangerous week it will be! We are awaiting word of whether the city trains and buses will stop running tomorrow. Either way, I do not plan on going to work in 70+ mph winds and pelting rain though I doubt most of the city will either. Dmitriy will be working from home instead of doing his weekly drive to PA; we will be forced to stay inside for days unless we have to be evacuated. I wish everyone that is affected a safe and quick return to normal life!

Large Teal Flower All Occasion Card

Good morning all! Another Tuesday and another week at Tuesday Alchemy! This week you can choose any color OR colors to use from magenta, olive, and teal--I chose teal! This card wasn't directed toward anything in particular, so I will leave it as an all occasion card. Large flower center is comprised of 2 smaller flowers and a rhinestone. It may be a little hard to see, but the larger diameter consists of 2 layers of varying shades of blue.

This week's fabulous sponsors are Di's Digi Downloads and Broken Box Designs. Play along for a chance at winning prizes!
It's a rainy week here in NYC. Hope it's beautiful wherever you are to make up for this weather!
